RESISTING AUTOCRATIZATION, FROM IRAN TO THE U.S.

ELTE University’s Department of International Relations and European Studies Invites you to a public lecture by Dr. Tareq Sydiq. 

In his talk Professor Sydiq will discuss the multiple challenges democracy movements face both in autocracies like Iran and backsliding democracies like the U.S. Professor Sydiq conceptualized both autocratization and resistance as social processes. In his talk Professor Sydiq will also reflect on current events related to Iran.

Professor Sydiq works at the Centre for Conflict Studies at Marburg University. He coordinates the research network "Postcolonial Hierarchies in Peace and Conflict" and leads the "AFPRO" project. He did His PhD on the domestic politics of Iran, and his research focuses on protests within autocratic / autocratizing polities.
